Fundamentals of Microwave Engineering

Objective

  • To understand application of microwave network theory and scattering matrix to passive component design
  • To study application of smith chart for impedance matching in microwave systems
  • To analyze propagation of EM waves through various types of waveguide
  • To understand theoretical principles underlying various active devices
  • To learn to design microwave filters using distributed elements
  • To assemble a microwave test bench comprising of active and passive components and various methods of measurement at microwave frequency

Evaluation System

  • Theory Examination: 100 marks
  • Oral Examination: 25 marks
  • Term Work: 25 marks
  • Total: 150 marks
